Very rarely does the movie live up to the book, but since I am an eternal optimist I eagerly go to see the movie. Hoping to see The Help this week... cause I absolutely loved the book!!!!!

I read V. C. Andrews's Flowers in the Attic series back in the late 1970's and the book was soooo much more detailed and alot better than the movie. I don't usually read the books and watch the movies since then. I was really disappointed in the movie after reading the book first.

I think I'm going to look online and buy the book now. Lets see if it's better or not.

What do you all think???
No movie could possibly include all the detail in the book. I read the book with a book club about 18 months ago and saw the movie last week. Loved the book, loved the movie.
Some people in the audience were stunned, but they laughed anyway. froggyintexas

I am reading 'the Help' right now on my Kindle. In fact I am nearing the end of the book. I never think the movie is as good as the book, but then I don't go to the movies that often. I usually wait until they come out on DVD. What a great book

Books are always better.
You can let your imagination run wild.

They take too many liberties with movies.

I always try to read the book before the movie. I thought they did a great job of transferring The Help to a movie but if read the book you can understand some things better that they can not go into detail with in the movie.
That was especially true in Water for Elephants. If you read the book you understood everything so much better.

I read the book and really liked it. I don't usually see the movie after a book but I did this time. The movie was good and I liked it. Of course the book has more details. Personally, I always prefer books over movies.
