Gimmicky? Sure. But we're all surrounded by marketing gimmicks daily. It's just the way things are.
    Yes unfortunately this is true.

But fortunately it's your choice to buy it or not. If you think it's stupid or gimmicky, don't buy it. But don't make people who have chosen to buy it feel like they aren't true quilt artisans or whatever.

It's funny. The people who like it have pretty much acknowledged that it's a novelty and kinda cool. The people who don't like it seem to really hate it. Why waste that kind of energy on fabric?

I am going to make queen size sheets and quilt from star and planet fabric. You have good prices.

And... we put on the 3D glasses and took a look at our other fabrics, to see if there was anything else that was secretly 3D. What we found was that anything with a cool color background (blue/turquoise/green) with warmer-colored objects (yellow-orange-red), the warm tones just seemed to levitate up and away from the background of the fabric. Red the most, orange and yellow a little less. I think the most interesting effect was the puzzle pieces fabric by Timeless Treasures. The background was black, the blue, green, and cyan pieces "stayed down", and the yellow and red ones "jumped up". Unexpected (and fun)!

One of the reasons why I don't goto 3-D movies anymore. It was a novelty when they first came out and our local theatre didn't charge the fee, but then they started to, so I stopped going to 3-D movies.

I ordered 2 yards of all three and made pillow cases for my 6 grandsons and 4 nephews for Christmas. Now I have to buy some CHEAP 3-d glasses to go along with them. Anyone know where to get them?
    Sharon

Forgot to say travel pillows, not regular size!

Gosh, I must have been hiding behind the sewing machine way too long because I did not know the 3-D stuff was a come-back from the 1950s movies. Now you tell me it is on fabric. Go figure...........but Halloween is just around the corner!
