My grandmother used to put Vicks Vaporub on the backs of our hands and behind our knees and on the backs of our necks when I was a kid. Mosquitos do NOT like the smell of Vicks. Yeah, it smells, but if it wards of mosquitos, who's complaining? Pas moi!

Bats are also a great eater of mosquitos but sadly there is something calledwhite nose fungus and it has killed just about every bat in the northeastern states and it is happening faster than researshers can figure out a solution. I used to have bats all summer for years and two years ago, none! very sad thing that is happening to them.

And I understand how everyone hates bats and every other living thing on the planet that isn't cute but this is a devestating thing to the whole ecosystem of the planet and is just one little part of the degradation happening right now.

That's my soap box moment of the day. A very sad thing.
peace
