Lynnie, I'm on the same page as you... I have a separate bin for my fat quarters, another for larger cuts... but anything smaller than a FQ or quarter yd goes into a scrap bin

Anything above 1" I use under 1" gets tossed. If little triangles can be sewn together to make a decent size square gets used, otherwise tossed. I have lots of large pieces of fabrics - Lots and trying to use some of it up. If I could live another 200 years I might be able to use all my fabrics.

For me, everything too small to use for manufactured fabric is a scrap. The rest is everything that I haven't figured out how to use and the operative work is "yet."

Sometimes I just want to sew. Doesn't have to be "sew something." Doesn't have to be a color, etc., etc. I just want to sit at my machine in peace and think and dream and plan and remember. That's when manufactured, just happens, let's see how big I can make this piece fabric gets made. And it gets used when it gets used.

Sewing has so very many levels and nooks and crannies to it. What I consider scraps contributes to those levels.

Enjoy your scraps. We may need them next winter.

There is no such thing as a scrap. Anything too small to cut into a standard size square or strip is used for crumb or improv blocks. Too small for that, they go into doggie and kitty beds for the animal shelter.

I have to add - that if I don't like a fabric - it automatically goes in the scrap bin!! And, as Bonnie Hunter says, "If it's still ugly, you haven't cut it small enough!". LOL.

I do a lot of applique, so all my scraps go in a bin. I have 4 right now, and really do need to get them cut and saved or put into a bag for making doggie pads for Animal Control Center

I consider scraps to be anything less than a few inches each way. If it's big enough to fold and put back on my shelf then it's still stash not scraps.

This may be general, but I consider any fabric left over from a quilt or project, I consider scrap. I try to put Christmas themed fabric into a large baggie, as I will then use those scraps for more Christmas Snowmen wall quilts. Other scraps I used to make my DGD's full size quilt with appliqued hearts, flowers, dragonflies and butterflies, it was beautiful and Zoe said she loved it "very, very much". The hug and kiss was worth all the many hours I spent on that quilt.

I use everything. Strips as small as 1/4 inch I use to wrap cloths line rope & make bowls, hot pads & coasters out of them. I am a waist not want not kind of a person.
