I put aluminum foil over the wood of my large ironing board, then cover with batting. I have been using the teflon that ironing board covers are made of, but someone earlier said that wasn't good for quilting. I'm getting ready to redo my whole setup. I was looking for a kitchen cabinet drawer set. Today on Craig's list for free was a kitchen cabinet with doors. FREE :D DH went to get it and hopeful he will get in and ready for me to use soon. He's going to put plywood on top for my surface and then I'll cover it. MORE STORAGE :) :) :)

Have you tried Walmart?

I bought single TV trays there when I was in Florida. I imagine that what one store has, the others should have similar ones.

Good luck....MaryJane

I made one of these ironing boards with the tv tray, put a few layers (I think 3) of 80/20 batting (cuz' thats what I had available) and a double layer of muslin, stapled to the bottom. I also like to take a piece of flannel and lay over the top, it sticks so its stable, and can just be picked up and washed.
