    When you place you first [light] strip along the edge of the triangle, do you then sew 1/4" from the two met edges? I'm thinking the answer is 'yes', but I just wanted to confirm. TIA

    Yes--1/4". String blocks are really forgiving, though, if it is a little bit more or less. You do want that first seam as consistent as you can get it, so your triangles will match up to make diamonds when you put the blocks together.
