I am a big fan of Invisi Grip and have it on the back of my rulers.

I quess I am lucky as a friend gave me weights that belonged to her mother that was used for cutting out clothing patterns. They are wood and brass and probably weigh a pound or more. I have an accu cutter and I love it. Makes cutting strips so much easier. It can do a lot more, but I just got it need to practice more with it to use it to its fullest potential.

Yep, Harbor freight (and probably other hardware type stores) have the suction cup handle type things. After DH got me one for quilters at the cost of about $16 or $19 for Christmas, he found them for $6 at Harbor freight and got me another, also the 4 inch for $3.99 and the 2 inch for 99 cents.

I tried the plastic film and it doesn't work. DH got me both clear plastic dots and sand paper. I like them both, but I forget they are there and they catch on the fabric, but I'm learning.

Just visited the Martelli web site and they have the rotary cutter on sale for 19.99 normal price is 24.99. If you go to jhittlesewing.com they have same for 18.64. As for the cutting rulers and mats, they are very expensive. From 100.00 or moe. Much too expensive for me, but really sounds wonderful. Think I am going to get the rotary cutter. Soounds like that might help with hand and arm fatigue.

Do you have the little finger of your left hand on the mat and the rest of your fingers and thumb on the ruler? A man in an LQS gave me this tip a while ago and it makes the ruler much more stable. :-D

Regarding the vynal...I've used both thickness but like the thinner best. Cheap fix.

Simply Quilts had show on tips one time and they suggested taking a hot glue gun and putting glue dots on the back of the ruler. Haven't tried it yet but it sounds logical. (and cheap!)

Thanks so much! I figured that might be the case. I'll give it a try.
