    My daughter made a rail fence with black and white. When I finished it I added alittle red flip border around the edge before first border. Very striking. Also saw a log cabin with red center and black and white on one side and white and black on other.

    The log cabin is what I would have suggested. But either one of these would be great choices for a beginning quilter! Let us know what you decide.

    Good morning from Louisiana!
    I saw this quilt in a shop, & knew I had to make it. Black,white & red are such strong colors that I think the pattern gets lost. This one has MOVEMENT, so both color palette & design are balanced. Contact me for more info.

    This was made from a Buggy Barn book, "Crazy Fun-N-Games", I believe this one is "Checkers".

    I did a D9P with black, gray and red. I used red for the center block so it would be cut and splash into the quilt
