Thanks Missy for the good information. These are Xmas mats I made and I like to use them everyday now till the season is over.

I iron them. I iron my quilts and I use steam also if they need it. I have ever since the first quilt I ever made 25+ years ago. The quilt needed sprucing up; I thought about it and not ironing didn't make sense to me so I did it and I never looked back.

I do iron mine, but I also prewash everything, including the batting if it is cotton or cotton blend, as I do not like the wrinkled look.

If you pre-washed your material there will be minimal wrinkling and an Iron will definitely take that out. If you did not pre-wash your fabric the shrinkage will make it much harder to iron out. If after ironing it - it looks "smashed" - just mist it with a little water and fluff it briefly in the dryer

Depends on the batting you used. If you used polyester batting, DO NOT IRON! It will melt! I know because a friend of mine did that. Ended up with a flat crunchy wallhanging. We still chuckle about it to this day.

But if you used cotton batting, it is probably okay to iron.
