Next week we have to start cutting hay though....so...  and sweat!
LOL I thought your last line you were going to say  (Grin) and bear it!!

I grew up around haying and I lucked out because I wasn't strong enough to throw the bales but I still had to help move them to the conveyor belt. Don't envy you in that heat!! Lots of water and iced tea!!!

You probably use the huge round bales? that is what is common here. You occasionally see square bales but not often.

Yes Rhonda...you are right. Its the big round bales. We have some friends who come over and cut, rake and roll for us, but we get out and help them move, load, unload and stack. DH's tractor has A/C...mine does not....Unfortunately with his meds and his health, I just can't kick him out of his tractor. :hunf:

So...depending on rain or no rain...we'll be getting started next week. We need to put up over 100 rolls.

Phew, Patti that sounds like a rotten job, but I suppose one that just has to be done, considering you have livestock that needs looking after.

Well done for getting ahead with your blocks - do you want me to post various weeks so that you can put your pics there? Or do you think it will put people off?

Oh...its not that bad...I put on a hat, sunscreen and carry frozen water bottles and keep on the move. We pick up the hay with these long spears on the front of the tractor, then move them from the field to a "pick up" spot next to the field road where they can pull a long trailer. They are then stacked on the trailer and driven about 3 miles to our other farm where we have a huge barn to store the hay. We unload the trailer with another tractor and stack each bale (roll) inside the barn...then go again. The trailer will carry about 9 rolls per trip..so we are back and forth alot.

We haven't started yet Elle...depending on whether they forcast rain or not..we will start either this coming week or next. We don't want it to get rained on after it is cut and before it is baled. That causes mildew and the animals won't eat it..then its just a roll of money laying there going to waste.

jolo...well, thats a good point. Maybe it will spur you on..Its not really my decision to make...we can do whatever the majority wants to...if you want to see....then we sure can post some more weeks in advance... :-D

I have been a slacker lately and haven't worked on my blocks, but I have printed out the patterns and will be getting back at them this week. Life gets in the way, so does the weather!
