Yep, I agree except that she's about my mom's age and I wouldn't do that to her. She reminds me of the people who when they learn you quilt expect you to make them a quilt for Wally World prices.

She just called me and asked if I wanted a Singer 31-20 that's in pieces for $15. I said no thanks and passed as I'm not into the industrials. She did ask if she had quoted me a price on the other machine and I said she had and asked again if the price was firm. She replied yes and I told her good luck selling it at that price which I believe is too high. She did say she'd call me when she's having her sale. I might go and look but I just don't know. I wonder who, if anyone, she's found to clean up the ones she's wanting to sell. Not my problem any longer.

At the beginning of the video, there are a couple of vintage Singers sitting in the background as decorations to the studio. It would be cool to see them make something with one of the vintage machines, but that most likely will not happen. Anyhow, cool show. Enjoy!

I never even tried to sign up for being a member of Needlebar after hearing how difficult it was just to be a member back numerous years ago.

Back when I started collecting in 2010, I just googled names and looked for images under those names. Sometimes other machines would show up too. Example, I would google Singer and a Davis would show. That is how I discovered Needlebar and many other sites and blogs through google images. It was here that I also discovered that Alan was having difficulty dealing with the internet and sharing.

Yes, I said difficulty sharing.

First and top most, we are just the STEWARDS of these machines. They will out live us. These are sewing machines made of metal that happen to be a very fine piece of art that are meant to be used for sewing. It is our job to teach the next stewards. Luckily, it can be easily done just through the internet these days by blogging the information and posting photos.

Secondly, from what I have read through google searches and on this board years ago, Alan compiled pictures and information from other collectors. Many pictures and information were not his to begin with. Those folks proudly shared their treasures and what they knew. It was a TRUST of SHARING.

It would have been proper for him to have thanked those folks for their sharing and then announced that the site would be shutting down. But he didn't.

I wish to thank ALL that have shared their images and gave of their time. Because of you, I have learned. You have helped me, the next steward, recognize the value of vintage sewing machines. I'm now the steward of some very FINE and extraordinary sewing machines that I use in my quilting and sewing. I bow to you with grace and thank you. You have brought me joy.

I'll miss it. I learned a lot about Davis machines from the photo gallery and years of forum conversation. A tremendous SM resourse (no matter how one feels about NB) is gone.

Yes, I do understand what you mean and you have been very patient with her. I hope you do get your machine for a good price, I am of to an auction tomorrow where there are SIX machines for sale. I am sure at least one will come home with me!

It is sad that he felt the need to remove it. I only know half of the story through google research, and those long ago conversations didn't paint him kindly. It's been a very long time since I have come across NB in image searches, and I'm not looking for NB in my search.

Weird things happen on the internet. I can understand his frustrations, regardless of what I have read about him. I have had some very strange private messages sent to me on this site, QB, that has frustrated me and left me questioning what the heck is going on, and what sock is that person wearing today, and why the game. I have no idea if this has happened to him on his site, but I'm sure it has since it happened here on a quilting board site.

Out of my frustration, I removed my name from all the yahoo groups that I had joined over a year ago when someone kept sending me private weird messages here. I just got tired of the BS, game playing, and reading stupid posts.

Well, I really don't know the true story and I'm sure I never will. But it is sad that the NB site is gone, even if I only got to experience it for a brief time back in 2010 through google images, a once back way into his site-which I didn't know at that time. I thank Alan for the short brief moment in time; that search help me identify a Two Spools.

I'm not a member of Treadleon or ISMACS, or any other site like Quilting Board.

Nowadays, there are so many bloggers with free and helpful information. Some of those bloggers make money from their blogs through daily hits. I'm not one of them that makes any money from my blog. I do thank those bloggers that have spent their time compiling photos for tutorials on cleaning and fixing vintage machines, and just posting photos of their machines. Through their blogs and sharing freely their information, I have learned the importance of blogging about my machines and projects that I have made with them. We are all teachers and learners. So, I too try to share tutorials on my machine projects and post photos of all of my machines, just my small contribution to helping save these vintage beauties.

My suggestion to vintage machine owners is to start blogging your machine photos, machine information, and tutorials so that others can learn.

I have an old Singer machine that has these numbers: AC 043259 Can someone tell me about it or where I can find information on it? I have looked on some vintage websites but couldn't understand how to find the information I need. I also need a manuel to help me learn how to thread it and wind the bobbin. Thank you for any information you can provide.
