Praying for you. There is nothing as sad as losing a child no matter how old,

I will try to attach the t-shirt quilt I made for my granddaughter.
Because she had so many different sizes of shirts, I only put sashing between the rows of sweatshirts. I did use iron on stabilizer on the t-shirts to make them more manageable.

I saw a beautiful T-shirt quilt at our guild meeting. The lady had made a quilt top of large blocks that blended together in color--THEN she cut the designs from the t-shirts, worked out a pleasing arrangement and then appliqued them onto the top -- It was so pretty. I'm sure she backed her t-shirts with iron on interfacing before she cut out the designs. It gave her so much more freedom in using the designs than when you just make square blocks. I'm going to do one like hers with my grandson's high school tshirts. I'm sorry I don't have a picture for you.

Sorry, I attached the wrong side of the T-shirt quilt. Will try again. Will send both sides so you will get the one you need.

Use a very filmy stabilizer for the backs of each t-shirt you want in the quilt - it will not make it "stiff" but it will give it body to help the quilt hold it's shape..

You need to use a fusible woven interfacing to stabilize the t-shirts. I am so sorry to hear of this tragic loss. Good luck with this quilt, and please post pictures of it when it is done.

How about using his jeans for the backing?
