Greetings from the Sacramento area in CA. Not sure about the brand or even type of LA, but I would recommend that you try some out to see if you like them AND if they work for you. Can you rent some time on a LA at your quilt store?

Welcome from OKC, OK. I just had a great day at the best quilt show today! I wanted to recommend going to one and trying all of them out ! It's so cool ! And no charge, they fix the thread if it breaks and all that neat stuff !

    HI Elaine,
Are you asking about a long arm machine or a home machine you can quilt on. You need at least 10 inch neck on a machine to do a quilt on a home sewing machine. There are many out there.
I quilt everything on my Vikings. From the Sapphire's up they have a nice sized neck or space from the needle to the machine. It is not like a long arm but depends on funds and room to put one up.
    Welcome from Washington state

Hi and welcome from Ga. You're ambitious to go right to a LA! Have you already done a lot of quilting? If not, you might want to go for the biggest harp domestic machine you find until you get your feet wet, unless you're the kind that jumps into the pool with a huge cannonball

I'm still fooling with domestic machines and have gone vintage to try and see how that works.
