I'm so glad you mentioned sit-upons! I'll have to make some.

This post has got me thinking about posting a "wanted" ad on craigslist for feed bags! lol

I use them for trash bags. Can make only so many bags out of them. Thought about unweaving them and crocheting them into rugs, just have not got that far----yet.

I would pay for shipping on a couple of the ones you don't want, but I am up to my eyeballs in fabric sacks already.

I started collecting fabric bags back in the day when only "hippies" and nerds used them. >.

Feedbags are a sort of fabric - I bet they'd go fast on the classifieds!!!

I will have horse feed bags if anyone would like them for shipping-or I'll trade for a finished bag? I think I have alfalfa pellets in this type of bag, so shouldn't be too icky inside. My senior feed might be in this type also, but again, it's a pelleted food and I don't think the inside is too icky. I can probably post pics if anyone's interested.

shopping for new ideas on winter gardening and limited spaces. I found grow bags! Has any one had any experience with these items made out of plastic and I was wondering if all these feed bags wouldn't make great container bags for garlic, carrots and such so you wouldn't have to till up your garden area or just put them at the sunny corner of the yard? perhaps another way to recycle them (I have about 24 a week).

They are easy to clean out. I just shake them out well (outside), turn them inside out and wash them out in the shower. I'm at my daughter's apartment so the shower is my only option, but at home I would just take the hose to them.

Very simple to make, you can cut down to any size you want and I use 18" of the webbing to make each handle.

Let's all start a writing campaign to try to get these feed people to again put feed and flour, etc in cloth bags. Emphasize the "GREEN" effects of it. Get women's groups involved. Get college kids involved. Make waves.

Then I can get some feed sacks again and maybe find one with my beloved red roosters on it that I had as a child.

Come to think of it, I'll suggest it to my college GD..and we have a University here, next time I go out there I'll suggest it to some of them who look like movers and shakers. You know, the Madam President type. She herself doesn't do much, but she sure as heck gets things done, by cleverly pushing others to do the whatever it is that has to be done.

And guess whose face shows up in pictures for doing those things? Yup, Madam President.
