The same thing happened to our family this past June. My nephew has been looking for his birth family for 20 years. What a wonderful time....meeting him for the first time.

I learned quite a lot about my dad's mother's family and his dad's family that I didn't know. I even found a few facts that even my dad didn't know. We went the DNA route on my dad's father's family. That went really fast because there is a DNA group with our last name on the web.
I am so happy for you that you found a living uncle. That is wonderful!
I pray that the rest of you can find some doors no man can close in order to find other members of your family.

There are many ways to search for long lost relatives. Some include using the US Census records, county and church records, state birth records. All of these are unique to an area and you may spend a lot of time looking. The LDS Church sponsors workshops and centers to assist, as do other organizations. It's a great pasttime, but I warn you, it can really cut into quilting time!

SO excited for you!!! Only those adopted with no information can understand how lost a person can feel. I've always felt so alone being adopted and not knowing my true heritage.

Makes me so happy when reunions take place. Doing the happy dance for you!

This is nice news. It may be that they couldn't afford to take care of him & adoption was their way of giving him a better life. My mother has a half sister that we didn't know about till my grandfather died. He had been married before & made my grandmother swear to never tell the children. After he died she told everything. Funny what you found out after people are gone. Hope it is a happy reunion.
