Sorry i left you hanging, podunk internet kicked me off for a bit. My cutter took a crap a few months ago. Did some research and they are prone to being junk, at least for Brothers. Mine had some thread and lint stuck in it, works better but still not like new. So glad your up and sewing. Now next time maybe you should let hubby take some pics. Glad I could be of help!

You are too right, if there is a next time that we have to take things apart, I will for sure take pics...especially when I say "I should probably take a pic of this..." and then I don't....very stupid on my part!!! Sorry your cutter doesn't work like it should, but good to know that sometimes on these machines they act up...I really do love this machine...and for the price I was ecstatic to get the knee lift, auto cutter, etc...
So, all you mystery lovers, Lea has summed up this webisode of CSI: QB! Stay tuned for new episodes, but I hope I am not starring in any of them!! And I am sure Lea doubles that!!!

Oh shucks! I was just teasing Leatherflea about the lint. I have a guard at my sewing rm door so noone slips in to inspect mine. Heck, I've got 13 of them to keep clean, and I wouldn't want a single one of them to be cleaner than my house!! I too, have been following this tale of travesty. So glad it is all working out. Maybe you can have the new machine and still have this lil ole Brother also. Good luck. Elvis is leaving the room.

Oh mermaid, I wasn't meaning that I thought you were "taking a jab"! I have such a dry sense of humor, and I have to remember not everyone does...I also try and keep the lint cleaned out..one thing I would like to know is why they don't make it easier for us to really get down in the nooks and crannies to clean them??? I bought the lil attachments for my vacuum, and it helps some, but still impossible to get all the way in on some of them...anyways, I was just teasing along with ya....
Also, machine is still sewing, I am "baby-ing" it as I have a table runner do to be mailed out by the 15th of this month for a swap here..and I have to get some decorative stitching done around the appliques...if the machine "kaputs' after that, it will be sad, but ok, as I have my workhorse Brother PQ-1500 straight stitch machine that I can use to finish the rest of it...
Lastly, dh and I talked it over, and he said "enough salivating over the Janome Horizon 7700, buy it already!"...So, I am!!
I still want to keep my PC-420 for quilt group, and also I still love the machine...In my opinion for $400 you can't find a machine with all the features it has that sews as well as it usually does!
    Happy New Year all!

I have the PC-420 too and wouldn't trade it for anything. It does sound to me like the feed dogs might be hanging up somewhere. I had a similar problem. Thought I had fixed it and several yards of sewing later took it apart again to clean out lint and put it back in (apparently better that time) and voila like sewing on a new machine again. I don't know what was wrong but it muddled along for quite a while that way. Hope it keeps working great for you. Keep cleaning it and taking that bobbin holder in and out - eventually it will resettle the way it's supposed to. Hugs!

Well...the machine is not working...it just keeps doing the 4 beeps, clunking off, and saying safety device activated...hubby and I have tried everything...Of course I didn't get the decorative applique done on the table runner I need to get finished and off to my swappee by the 15th either. I just went ahead and bought the lil Brother CS 6000i to use for now...Here is the good news in all of this: I have been really looking at and dreaming about purchasing the Janome Horizon 7700 for the last year or so...dh told me to quit salivating over it and just order it already!! So, I did!! That being said, I still loved my PC-420, and I will have to decide if its worth it to take it in for repair...local shops charge $75.00 just to look at machines, let alone what it will cost for parts and repairs...as the machine can be bought new for around $400 not sure it is worth taking it in...I may just sell it for parts on Ebay...
    Regards all,
    K
