    Purple,
Is there another name for this block on Quilters Cache? I looked in the alphabetical listing and its not there under 'frugal block'. Thanks!

I was given a large quantity of muslin and I have been using it with my scraps. IMHO you can make anything work if you combine it with muslin. I even bought a bolt of muslin when Hancocks had a sale for $2 something per yard. I'm using up a lot of scraps. In fact I have so many scraps and/or FQs I have decided not to buy any more material until I use up at least a small portion of what I already have. I've been noticing some dresses and shirts that I can't/don't wear any more that would look good in a quilt.

This is something I had never considered. I don't usually add another fabric when doing the scrappy stashbuster type quilts. I make log cabin, nine patches, etc. i would suggest looking (Doing a search on here) for scrappy quilts and you will get lots of ideas

I am doing the same thing you are and have loved the Depression bloc. Also just got the December issue of American Patchwork Quilting and on page 52 is an amazing quilt of 2 and one half inch squares. I am considering it for my next quilt. Good luck.

Thank you, Lynda, for this great link. I am a scrappy user-upper too.

Any string quilt can be made without having to purchase extra fabric. It just uses the fabrics you already have. Bonnie Hunter has a string quilt too.
