We turn on the oldies music and make a game of "name that tune and/or singer". We also have a lot of sermons on cd that we like to listen to. We both like talk radio. With the news these days it can get your blood boiling which also helps to keep you awake.

My husband and I travel back and forth from Laconia, NH to Shipshewana, Indiana a couple times of year (approximately 16 hours one way) and I get to be the passenger all the way. I love all the free time I have! I bring along my basket with some hand quilting project; a good novel to read; the latest magazine that I haven’t had time to look at; my phone to check or send emails, or to play boggle; and the USA Today that I read aloud to share all the news with my husband. Before we know it, we are home and I still have more things I had hoped to finish! So, look forward to your travel, be prepared to relax and enjoy!

I don't sleep, I worry that the driver might fall asleep from boredom. Besides...I'm so nosy I want to see everything going on.

My husband likes to do all the driving. He is a very good driver and never seems to get tired. I have out grown the days I could sleep in the car from beginning of trip to end of trip. Now, I read, crochet, knit, and do a lot of munching on snacks.

It depends on if I have been on that road before. In the city i watch the road. On highway i play on my nook. I hate my DH driving.

I can just hear those beads bouncing around the inside of your car....

I get sick so can't do anything other than talk. Don't listen to the radio.

When we were traveling around Australia I knitted baby booties and hats for premmie babies. I have a large box that I used to keep photos in which I use to keep them in. I've filled it about 5 times and it's almost full again. I donate them to the two main maternity hospitals here in Brisbane. I do them now when I'm minding the GK. Love doing them. I will take some photos and post them later. Never thought about pics of these.

Stay awake in a car for 8 hours? You're kidding, right? DH found out on one of our early dates that if I'm in a car not driving, I will probably sleep. He accepted that, and we've managed for 46+ years. He drives, I sleep. Though I do often bring a project if it's a long trip. Good luck!
