I started knitting at age 4, sewing not much after that, (made all my own clothes by age 12....including winter coats!!). I started making "floor quilts" for babies when I was about 35. Because I was sewing 8-10 hrs a day for my bread and butter for the better part of 25 years as a single mom, I didn't start this type of quilting until I moved from Canada to the US 7 1/2 yrs ago and "couldn't" work until I had my green card. Now I am totally hooked. And age? I may have a fair bit of gray hair and achy joints, and a few years of knowledge accumulated...but "upstairs" I am still only about 30. ;) Oh...and real age? I will be 59 years young in a few weeks.

there are several quilters that go to the church I attend. We have constantly changing displays in the sanctuary as we all hang anything new as we have finished each quilt. Someone must have been looking ahead when thsi church was built as there is a metal bar on the wall all around the sancuary at about the 8 foot high level!!! We hang the quilts with magnets, so no need for hanging strips. The quilters range in ages from mid 30's to mid 60's.

I'm 32 and have kinda been quilting for about 4 years now! I've also got my 4 year old daughter hand piecing a doll quilt right now!

I also started crocheting when I was about 10 years old and have finished endless baby blankets that way. I love to craft and will try just about anything once! My DH won't let me start scrapbooking because he knows what would happen then! :lol:

My kiddos are 4 and 2 so I don't always get a lot done between working full time and them but I try! That counts for something, Right? Right????? :shock: :shock: :shock:

I'm under 30 and have been quilting for a few years.

I was interested in learning to crochet when I was about 6 or 7. My best friend's mom tried showing me how, but my best friend just wanted me to come and play! LOL! I've sewn since I was probably 6.

There was another thread about age on this board a long time ago...

My SIL (Live2teach) is also on this board and she is younger than I am.

I am 40. I've been quilting for about 5 years, but I've been sewing since I was about 14. Always loved it. Always wanted to learn to quilt, then I found a rag quilt class and I've been knee deep ever since.

I am in my mid-40s right now but started quilting when I was in my early 30s and have been sewing since I was in my teens. In my 20s I made custom kids clothes and my kids didn't know what store bought clothes were until they were in middle school. Keep on quilting I know all of your family loves your creations, my grandkids think the I Spy quilts I've been making are the best.

I am 50 I started quilting about 5-6 years ago but always have sewed, had to take it in grade school,ya know Home Ec.When I started quilting I had mentioned it to one of the guys I was working with at the time,and His response was "the Geritol is over on aisle 3!"

Gee Blue Chicken my son will be 33 on Friday! That makes me old enough to be your mother! That puts it in perspective for me!!! LOL

I started hand sewing( crewl and embroidery) when I was 18 and started quilting when I was 25. I'm 54 so I have been quilting for 29 yrs.

When I started quilting, my DD#2 said "Well, I guess you are 'of quilting age'" :shock: Both my DDs are now quilters. I think they started in their late 20s and are now in their early 30s. I think what started it was when I gave them each a sewing machine for Christmas.

My youngest graduated high school on my 40th.
I have been sewing about 40 years. Oh, that wasn't the question.
You meant under 40 yo. lol
