Help! I've ruined a customer quilt with marker!

Does seem a little odd, doesn't it?
I've seen ads for "The Laundry Guy" (if the tv is on when I'm sewing, I often turn to the ID channel), and thought it was ridiculous. Seriously? A program about somebody who uses an orbital buffer to get things out of laundry? It amazed me that there is a tv program about somebody's laundry tips.

Quiltingshortimer my heart goes out to you. Can't say I've done this on a customer's quilt but have done it on my own. Oxyclean got it out for me. My color was blue. It was a nightmare to say the least. The process was slow and tedious. I would do as SillySusan recommends and contact your customer before taking any of our suggestions.

This will sound too easy but Shout really does work really well. If you will soak it with Shout then scrub it with your fingernails (scrub it into the fabric good, across the grain, round and round, etc) then throw in the wash....I cannot tell you how many things I have cleaned up this way....Good luck

I will have to remember to mix Dawn with Shout to get my markings out of my latest quilt. I used a chalk line to mark the quilt diagonally but unfortunately I used the wrong chalk line. This one had red chalk instead of the blue that I normally use and it does not fade like the blue chalk. I was worried about getting the makings out of this quilt since it is a graduation gift but now I am more hopeful.

Oh no-so sorry hear this and you must feel awful but I am sure there is a way to remove the markings. It may have been the kind of fabric you used the marker on. Can you contact the maker of the marker and see if they have any ideas for you. Good luck to you

thank you to all the suggestions--this post is a couple of years old. The quilt in question was washed (no binding so I closely zigzaged edge) with OxyClean, Grandma's Stain remover, soaked in Restoration, Spray & Wash applied and finally Blue Dawn--each did help but did not take out the green entirely until the 3rd time with Spray & Wash and Tide. I will never use UltraClean Crayola markers on fabric again--actually I won't use anything not specifically made for fabric and on customer quilts I rarely use more than chalk.
