I managed to get this top put together today. Technically, it's a UFO. I've had the little 4 patches for years, made when I was trying to use up my small squares of batiks. Finally put them into 16 patches and then found a good pattern for them on QuiltedTwins.com. It's called Swingin' Checkerboards, by Becky Petersen. She has the best patterns for scrappy quilting!

In this pic, I haven't yet trimmed and squared up the outside edge. I'm also going to change out the 4 corners, as they are too light.

I'm working on BH's Fair and Square. The original is 30 blocks, set 5x6, with a fairly narrow border. I was thinking I might only do 20 blocks in a 4x5 grid, and do a much wider scrappy border. I'm going to QAYG, so I'm going to wait until I have the 20 blocks quilted and assembled, then see if it "tells" me if it needs more blocks.

Can I hear a "woohoo!" for planned procrastination?, lol.

After my last update, I realized I need to read my notes better, lol...I "forgot" I enlarged the pattern so that my blocks are 20", so I only need 12 blocks total (20 if I decide to go with a bigger center and smaller border). I still have to make another 16 triangles to finish the smaller center.

Sewbiz, love your scappy. I agree that the corners are too light. What bright and cheery colors everywhere else!

JJ, love those strips and black edges. They really set off the squares. Are you planning to have a black border?

I worked hard yesterday and made one of the tops, 3 more to go before I start the sandwiching. Whew!

Love the turtle. He actually looks real as if you are looking though some water.

Dr. says I have a virus that is in the eczema family. All I got was some cream. My brother has something very similar. So does the neighbor and another lady at church.

Sewbiz....your 16 patch checkerboard is very striking.

I'm working on a red/white/touch of pink chevron quilt for myself and the 6" blocks for Vintage Farm Girl by Lori Holt. When I'm tired of one I work on the other. Of course hubby wants to put a stop to everything and go to lunch (corned beef and cabbage) and then the Infinity Race and Nascar tomorrow. Won't get as much sewing done as I did yesterday but then every little bit helps doesn't it??

I will be watching from the sidelines this month as DH and I are on a road trip from Maine to Key West this month. We veered off to Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans along the way. I do have a hand appliqué project to work on while we’re in the car.
