Welcome from NM. A good place to find nice fabric for less is Connecting Threads. Get on their e-mail list and request a catalog. They have lots of good stuff.

WOW! There are several of us Tenneessians around! I"m trying to talk my sister into joining the group. She lives in Dandridge, just outside of Sevierville! She and her mother n law got me hooked into quilting.

Welcome from NC! I find buying fat quarters really adds alot of variety to my stash. I buy some solids, or tone on tones to add with them, but for alot of quilts, & blocks, you just need a little fabric, so the fqs work great. So, if you find you like lots of colors, or different fabrics in your quilts, then try that! Main thing, enjoy, & find what works for you! Good luck & happy quilting, it's a great hobby, or passion, as some of us prefer to call it, lol!...

Thanks for such a warm welcome! I see Tennessee is well represented. I'm addicted to quilting...it's a whole new world... and allows me to do what I can at my own pace. I don't think I can reach the level of most of you but I feel encouraged even at my beginner level. Thanks to all of you... GrandPa

Hello and welcome. Just wanted to add my 2 cents about building your supply. Try a local sewing factory. You can p/u lots of nice sized pieces of fabrics for free. One factory in my area does government contracts so they always have lots of camo-type scraps which I use to make quilts for CitizenSam. It's an organization that send quilts to our troops to let them have a little piece of home and lots of appreciation. Most of the quilts go to hospital bound soldiers when they are being sent home. Good luck with building your stash.
