I love white in quilts. It is clean, refreshing and peaceful. Several years ago, I saw a picture of a simple pinwheel quilt on white. The pinwheels are bright colors and the background is white. A group of 4 pinwheel blocks is separated by a white square so that the quilt is mostly white. It is simply stunning, and is posted on my refrigerator waiting for me to try my hand at it.
While searching for a picture of that quilt on the web, I came across this, which I think is equally stunning:

I too love quilts with lots of white in them they look so sharp and fresh - I only use a little because if I did too much would spend the entire time picking of the dog hairs which always find there way to my fabric no matter how careful I am!!!!!! he he (I do wash all my quilts before they are passed on)

I've seen a lot of white lately too, and it sure is nice. I tried a gray for a backgrownd and it really made the colors pop. You might want to try that one too. Try it on something small to see how you like it.,

You know aside from stains, I think using the white wouldn't be any more difficult to take care of as compared to other colors. I have noticed some fabrics tend to fade over time, at least the white is white or sort of white. Still going to give this one a try, EVENTUALLY. Thanks for all of your input. Yes the dark and the white with the pinwheels is stunning!

I love white in quilts, too!
I make them alot. They always look so fresh and clean.
Use the Warm & White batting (OR ANY WHITE batting).
If needed, use a scoop of Oxy-clean in the wash with them to keep them bright. :)
