Beautiful quilt and beautiful thought for your friend. Your furry baby just makes the quilt look prettier!

Cindy, I don't know exactly how many colors I used. I know I didn't have as many lights as darks but I figured the darks were more important anyway.

According to my calculations (and Math is definitely not my strong suit!), one fat quarter should yield 8 2.5" strips. You need 2 light and 2 dark for each strip set, and each strip set will yield 4 block quarters or one block. So for a 12 block quilt you would need a minimum of 3 dark and 3 light fat quarters but I think the more variety the better.

Just e-mailed my friend to ask if she would like to do this pattern with me. It's a keeper. Yours is gorgeous.

Love your quilt. And the doggie is prescious too. My oldest daughter has two lhassa's and her male looks like yours. Also my mom has a schitzu who looks like him too, tho she is a female.
