I have my mom make them using the serger. Then I use a Pigma pen to write on the label.

I have an embroidery machine but I don't make tags. I just write on the back of the quilt with a fabric marker.
I put my name, city & state, month & year finished, and if I think about it I may also add the name of the person I made it for but mostly I don't know who's getting it. Oh yea I sometimes will put a name on the quilt if I happen to name it. Sometimes I will and sometimes I don't.

I do the same thing, recently made one with a pocket. You tuck it inside the pocket--looks like the back of the quilt, I fussy cut to fit.

As do I. Many have said it is a nice hand-made touch to the quilt!

I either write on a separate piece of fabric with permanent pens and then sew the fabric on the back or I print a label out on my printer using "Printed Treasures" paper backed fabric for computer printing. Then I sew it to the back of the quilt.
Some fabric manufacturers have panels of quilt labels that you can buy and write on. And there are quite a few books that you can use a design to trace onto fabric and then sew onto your quilt.

I call mine labels, & make them from a book, but alter them to meet my own choices. Also, I've used photographs added to a book design to make a label.
