Neither can I. I can't draw or park straight either. A Least when I sew I CREATE my own design from a rather normal pattern!

I use a strip of Dr Sholls molefoam (the stuff you use on your feet) Cut a piece about 1/2" x about 2" and then stick that at exact 1/4" from the needle. Then glide the fabric along the molefoam. (I put a ruler on the machine bed, then slowly hand turn so the needle is at the 1/4" mark, then stick the foam along the side of the ruler)
You do have to pull the foam up every half hour or so and trim away where fuzz has accumulated along the edge the fabric slides on. Works like a charm.
Oh also make a mark on the machine with a permanent marker where the edge of the foam goes, that way do not have to measure each time.

Sometimes I think it is the weight of the material that pulls it rt or left away from the mark....that happens to me when I am putting a binding on a large quilt; sometimes its our own "nervous" hand motions, fussing, and of course we have all read the remarks that a FW sews a straight line....that is all it does. Well, with all those mentions it seems to me that a lot of people are trying hard otherwise to be "right on" the straight and narrow. I just go back and correct the deviations.

No, you are not. That is one reason I love to do art quilts where straight lines are not needed. I have every kind of quarter in foot for my machine, and I still have a probem.

Thank Goodness you posted. I get so frustrated with myself. I cannot sew a straight line either. Could it be that we are artistic? Whatever....I am glad I am not alone!

I read this in one of the quilting mags, "Look where ya going and not where ya been", for the most part it works but I still have a piece of mounting tape on my machine to help me...

Well, I can't sew straight seams either and I have a Pfaff 1475 and Pfaff 2140/2170! But then, I can't see straight either! So it is probably our eyes and nerve system!
