I made a baby quilt for my daughter that I did not "love" when finished, I laid it on a chair and the cat took possession of it. Now lays on the end of my bed for the cat to sleep on. She gave up a pillow for the quilt.

Don't know about cats, but my dogs 2maltese and a yorkie just love my sewing room. I have beds for them in there but they seem to prefer my storage shelves and batting stash.

Both our cats and dogs lay on quilts if they can get to them. My dog will try to lay on a quilt that's hitting the floor while I'm working on it and/or want to sit in my lap, on top of a quilt, that I'm doing hand sewing on.

My cat only loves the ones he's not supposed to be on (black cat, white quilts). But the ones I make for him? Fuggetaboutit.

Cotton is a natural fiber, and as such it attracts animals who are naturally inclined to lay in an area of grass instead of something that smells of chemicals such as polyester. My cat not only wants to lay on quilts, but don't let him get his paws on a towel, you will never get all of the hair out of it! (Black cat) Ask me how I know.....

my cats love to lay on whatever I'm working on. I think it's their way of getting my attention. I do have a plastic container with a fleece blanket in it that they will sleep in once I've tossed them off my sewing table enough times. Although if more than one is in my sewing room with me, they will also sleep in my buckets of fabric that I store on the floor. I really should put the lids on!!!

It isn't a quilt til it has been slept on by a child... 2 or 4 legged!

I know that the quilt is good when the cats show interest. No interest - it's a dud (but I usually know that BEFORE I have feline disapproval, lol)

Seriously, I think the cats realize that we are paying attention to something not them and since they are prissy that is not acceptable. Not sure if the goal is to disrupt our concentration or jump on the band wagon.
