I do not use the 1/4 inch foot. I move my needle and line my material up with the edge of the foot. If you set your needle at 5.5 or 6.o you can have a good 1/4 inch. I put mine on 6.0, but the retailer where I purchased my machine said 5.5. Measure to see what works on your machine.

I use the clear foot that came with my 6600 and adjust my needle to make a 1/4" seam.

This might be a stupid ? but if you use the same foot for all the seams in the quilt wouldn't it come out right? Just a thought.

With my 6600, I move my needle to the 3.7 position & it is a perfect 1/4 space. 6600s automatically place the needle in the 3.5 position so you have to change it to 3.7

I have a Pfaff 2056 and the 1/4 inch foot but have found it is easier to set the needle position to 1/4 inch from the edge of the all purpose foot and use the edge of the foot as a guide. Seems like it turns out more accurate that way for me.

I have a Janome MC6500 and tried the quarter inch foot that came with it. The flange is flared out at the end and it produces a very generous 1/4". Maybe I'll pull off the flange too. The scant 1/4" is still eluding me.

I just brought a snap on 1/4 inch foot from Amazon and when I tried it, worked really good, but was not 1/4 inch and will be great on quilts that call for just less than 1/4 inch.
Still looking for the accurate 1/4 inch foot.

I have a Janome 10001 I picked up that same foot one day and couldn't figure out why it had a mangles wire hanging on it. Somehow the metal part got twisted up and away, I managed to fix it, it rides a little high but still works. Really threw me for a loop.

I have a Babylock Allure with a quarter inch seam guide. It has the metal piece. I love it. I am not great with sewing straight lines or with keeping a consistent seam and it has really helped a lot. No problems with it.
