A friend of mine suggested using fusible interfacing to hold the pieces together. I usually do a large hand whip stitch to hold them together or large zig-zag on the machine.

Im a ZIG ZAGGER too... No tape tho.. I really dont see the need on my quilts to use the tape..

I won the roll of fusible stuff used to bind batting together an it's just fusi-knit (interfacing used for t shirt quilts) but in a 1 inch roll. You could even use a light weight fusible cut in strips, which is what I will do when I use up this roll.

I use a looooooooong whip stitch, close to 3/4 of an inch, simply butting the two pieces together------------NOT TIGHT! The later quilting will secure the batting so an easy stitch works great. For me--------the hand stitching is easier than machine stitching.

I just use the thinnest fusible interfacing I can, cut it into strips and iron it on, it is not stiff and the quilting takes care of the rest

I ustzig zag min. I don't like the"lump" that foms if you iron one piece over the other.

That's what I do, would never buy the tape. I keep the smaller pieces in a separate bag for coasters, placemats etc.

If I couldn't buy more batting or hard to find, I would save batting scraps. I came to the point of knowing I can't save every scrap of batting, fabric, and almost empty thread spools. And please don't say save them for others to use. I still have to SAVE them to give away. If I was going to save them I may as well use them myself.
