How many "snow - birds" are here?

We are snow birds we started coming to Arizon in 2008 for two weeks to stay with friends and we were hooked. I am now retired so we come down for 5 months. But we do fly home for Christmas. We have our first grandson come around the beginning of March so I am going home end of February. I hope winter is mild when I get back.

we live in VT and go to Alabama (Gulf Coast) for 4-5 months every winter. When we built our house in VT, we did not make it so we could stay the winter (insulation but no central heat). We love it down here, great circle of friends, we are more social here than back home.
We have been doing this for over 20 years. We drain our house in winter and we get such a good deal on rent here in the south, it is cheaper to go south than to stay home and heat the house. In AL, winter months are "off season".

There are a lot of snowbirds who reside in TX during the winter. Down South near McAllen or Brownsville is where many go because it is really inexpensive to stay there. It is dry, so no problem with mosquitoes.

We have been snow birds for 4 years now and are seriously thinking of moving permanently to Texas. We live in Albert Lea, MN from May 1st to October 15th then we head to Mission, Texas for the next 6 months and we love it. The one thing I have learned with our travels is that fabric selection really varies by area..In Minnesota I only have to drive 9 miles to one of the best shops in Minnesota and in Texas I drive 1 1/2 hours to a mediocre quilt shop so I try to stock up in Minnesota and bring it with me

We are full-time RVer's and enjoy our winters in Southern California/Arizona and summers in West Yellowstone, Montana. The temps are currently in the high 70's/low 80's in San Diego. The cold holds no appeal for us anymore !
