I have basically nothing to the right. My counter ends there and a dresser with notions is next to that. I have an L shaped counter and the machine I use the most is on the L, the rest of my machines/sergers are on the longer part of the counter.

I have a really old big wicker basket from the Amana Colonies and I have a rocker from Amana that I sit in to do my hand sewing. It looks out my front room window that faces east and I love that spot best in the whole house/home. It is warm, homey, and I am in my glory there. Edie

My husband built my sewing table. It is L-shaped. I have 24 inches on the left and in front of the sewing machine. The L-shape is 25 inches to the right of the machine. It holds a lazy susan with sewing notions, a scissor block, pencil mug, my serger or lap-top. In the far corner I have a small 13inch TV. It is really convenient to reach everything and I have ample support for quilting large projects. My sewing machine drops through a rectangular hole and rests on a shelf underneath so the machine bed is flat with the table. Love it.

I have a pin cushion, stiletto,small scissors. I also have mine butted up to another table so on it I keep a ironing pad and small iron. Seems like I have lots of other junk laying around too, just can't remember what.

The only items I have to the right of my sewing machine is a magnet pin holder, scissors, everything else is on a stand next to my sewing table.

A lazy susan with all the little tools, pin cushion, etc, that I need at the machine. Be sure to leave room between the table frame and the sewing machine cutout for your cord so it doesn't get crimped.

To the right of my machine I have a cabinet and on that one of those portable ironing boards and an iron so I can press as I go. I also have a phone there so I don't have to get up to answer it in the middle of a project.

Similar to you plus a mug rug to sit my bottle of water on...it doesn't work on the left...the voice of experience!!!

I have a small ironing mat, a mini iron, a small cutting board, a rotary cutter, a pin cushion, small scissors, a seam ripper and a mug rug. That way, I can paper piece without getting up all of the time. I do all of the cutting for one large square, then sit down to do the square without getting up again to press and trim. The whole area is about a foot and a half to the right of my machine.

scissors, pin box, thread, pin cushion, bobbin ring and medicine bottle for disposing of bent pins and broken needles....just stuff that I need.
