I was watching Fons & Porter today and Maryann said she never washes the fabric before using it, but she does starch and iron before cutting. I'm feel better now about not washing fabric before using.

I pre-wash and use Retayne when needed. Too much is at stake to take risks.

No,as a general rule I do not wash. I do, however, wash reds and navy blues.

I generally don't, but know that I should.

I wouldn't recommend washing jelly roll strips in the regular washing machine.

I also am a non-washer. I do not like to work with slippery fabrics. Also, I like the look of the quilt when it has bee washed after quilting. But like you I do not have allergies so that is not a problem.

I always wash my fabric first.

I have a friend that worked in a quilt shop so was handling fabric constantly, she ended up with breast cancer. She was told the type of cancer she had was caused from chemicals. Was it from the chemicals on the fabric? one never knows.

I wash everything on delicate in warm water because of all the chemicals contained on the fabric. I figured we're exposed to too many chemicals as it is. I also use fabric softner in the rinse water. If it's just a small piece of fabric I line dry it and iron it. I know I'm crazy but I like to iron.
