earthquakes aren't something we worry about in this part of South Dakota. I'm much more likely to loose everything to a tornado - if the building goes, it's not really going to matter how I have the machines sitting on the shelves.

I'm going to install "stays" on the shelves so the stands can't slide around. Each shelf is screwed to 2x4's in the walls with 3" screws.

ppquilter - at one point in time I actually hoped I'd have one free wall to use as a design wall - but had to give that idea up early one LOL!!

eventually all the wall and sloped part of the ceilings will be covered with quilts. It was a real challenge making the decision between a shelf for machines ore another cabinet. I have so many cabinets and it would be nice to display them all, but that would take even more room. So I just have to stop falling in love with cabinets! I'm pretty sure I already own all the Singer ones (well, there is one really old one . . .) that I want, and I just have to shut my eyes when I see a neat White cabinet - White used some of the neatest cabinets.

Aw Cathy, this is such an awesome photo tour for us. If I visited in person, you'd probably have to establish "closing" hours, cause it would be hard to drag me away. Also need napkins around for us "droolers"...lol thanks so much for sharing. I shall return to view again.

Now if you could just take it all down and set it up again at the Rapid City Quilt Show coming up so soon! I am only 3 hrs south of Rapid City so been going to that show many years, back when it was at the School of Mines. Bought a $5 machine/cabinet today at a garage sale, cabinet bad shape but the brown crinkle New Home looked pretty good.

    Stunning! Absolutely stunning!

The main highlights for me where the Wheeler Wilson 9, shorty, hand crank; Demorest VS; and Alliance, Davis Rotary. I've never seen a photo of any of them before and it was fantastic to see them. I've got a Demorest shuttle listed in my shop and it's great to see a picture of it and not just a drawing from a scanned manual.

    Thank you so, so much!

P.S. I also noticed you have a Boye shuttle/needle display tin on one of the cabinets!

ppquilter - it would be fun to take the show on the road. That is what DH and I plan on being able to do eventually. It's going to be a few years before we get everything set up to do so. I also want to get proficient at using vintage attachments so I can show people how it use to be done.

Yes! This would be a great idea for quilting shows and art shows! Especially if you gave people the opportunity to use one of these machines for a bit. Get new people hooked Would you come to Denver? Please?!?
