I guess I missed the video link on the very first post. Sorry. I watched it now, and it is great.

The rule steady is totally different. It sits partly on and partly off the ruler so it does hold the ruler steady. The slidelock is just a flat piece of plastic with a handle and some rubber balls.

But several people in this thread and also in others about the slide lock DO use it on top of their ruler. I don't understand how it would help either but I might try it just to find out.

What are cutting all those strips for?

Did you see the video on the web site above. She uses it by itself after measuring with a ruler not on top of another ruler

Yes this is a totally different tool. Made to hold the ruler!!! The rule steady has a lip to hold the ruler. Thanks for the clarification, gale.

No, it absolutely doesn't! I'm posting a tute on the way I just learned to do it.......

I can see doing a tute on how YOU like to use it but to say the company is using it wrong? That makes no sense at all. I use it like they say to use it and it works that way so how can it be wrong?

Also I had never heard of this cutting helper so I just watched the video and yes it does look great for when you just have a few cuts. Did I hear her right that you can't do several layers with it?
The Slidelock doesn't need to be right next to a slit. I place it on the left side of the mat and cut 2 or 3 strips before bothering to move it closer to my next cut. I cut my usual layers this way. All the Slidelock is doing is keeping the mat from moving around (and keeping my fingers away from the cutter).
