I didn't get through many of my quilting magazines but with the snow and ice keeping me home I started working on a batch of dog quilts. I use fabrics that I don't like or am not going to use so I guess I could say I am organizing some of my fabrics !

I decided to just sew in my space yesterday without worrying about organizing. I made good headway on a project with a looming deadline and I was able to see an area that needs to be tweaked next. I think my mother must have had the rule that you clean before you have fun (which usually means you don't always get to the fun). Anyway, it felt good to be sewing and there'll be more organizing to follow!

I've seen old clothing patterns framed, and I may do that with mine, since I have a box of old, large frames from My parents house that need to be put to good use.

I have an old Barbie clothes booklet that my Mom used to make my Barbie clothes. She is in a hand knit bikini on the beach. That just cracks me up. I'm planning to frame it and display it in my sewing space.

I replaced it with a real table that I made using the piece of wood from the jury-rigged table and some adjustable legs that I got off of eBay. It was super easy, and now I have a table that can actually be used for sewing or cutting. It looks a lot better too.

Earlier this week I organized the fabric that came out of my grandmother's house. There are also a bunch of patterns dating from the early 50's through the mid 80's that need to be sorted. Most of the fabric is home dec, but I can use a lot of it in my art pieces since grandma favored solids over prints. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with it.

Not sure what to do with the patterns, there are a lot of them and from what I can tell without actually opening the envelopes a lot of them are uncut. Since they're mostly clothing patterns they are not things I would use, but at the same time, I don't want to just toss them either.

Vintage patterns are quite popular now. You might be able to sell them on EBay.

I took someone's idea and set up a fabric laundry hamper. I'm in the process of putting scraps into it, but because I use fabric to the nth degree, there's not much there! yaay

I had been missing 3 items. A yarn winder, large fuzz ball shaver and a rollup of crochet hooks. After totally dismantling my sewing/craft room, I can say with pride that I found all of those plus my hot glue gun(which I wouldn't have realized was lost until I needed it). That said, my room is in total chaos now, boxes and totes everywhere. I am now in the process of labeling those boxes and UFOs which should help some.

    Good job Neuras and Karyn!

This morning I retrieved my PQ1500s from the "spa" where it's been enjoying a good cleaning since Wed. Since my machine is now all spiffy clean, I decided to straighten up my sewing space. That was a big job.

    Time for a nap!

As I cut strips today for some four patches, I am also emptying my largest scrap container. The scraps will be cut as strips and some submit into small/larger bricks for future use. They are being put into existing boxes for leader/enders or the boxes (Quiltville Scrap System). Big project but I need a break over these next three days of sewing!
