If it were mine, I might try a little wider, solid color inner border to rest the eye from all the busy-ness of the blocks. Then put the cuff outer border on the edge. Just a thought.
You took on quite a challenge for that family, those kids will treasure the quilts forever!

The mother was just here. We decided to change the border on this quilt to a solid pink, and put these shirt fabric borders on the brother's quilt, so his will have both knits and woven fabrics too. She is happy with how they are coming together. That is what is the most important. We had thought about putting fleece backings, but she is wanting them as keepsakes, so we revisited that decision and I will have my laq do them for me.
Be sure to show us pictures of the finished quilts.
You're creating a real keepsake!

I see nothing wrong with it and I am sure they will be so thankful for the quilts! Bless you for doing it for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
