That link takes you to the fabric...will it work? I was thinking to get 6 yards...enough? Not enough? Too much?

    Thanks everyone!
It will be gorgeous. It's NOT yardage you have to count but you need to have six to eight REPEATS of the pattern. What ever yardage that comes to is what you need. I always get even more as I like to make the back the original fabric so you can see where the hexagons came from. Good luck to you. My first OBW was difficult until I discovered the secret to putting all of the hexes together! Have someone who has done it before show you how to get it so you are sewing straight lines only. It will not only make a big difference in looks but in frustration level as well. Good luck and enjoy!

Gorgeous fabric. You should get some really lovely units. The best looking quilt in a class I took at quilt camp was a fan "stack n whack" made from an oriental fabric. Please post pics of the blocks as you put them together. I always carry a viewing mirror with me when I shop for fabric, it is amazing what you can see.

Does OBW mean one block wonder? I haven't heard that exact reference before.

There is a pattern called 4 Patch Posey, it's one that the repeats are matched into 4 layers before cutting and sewing. It is much simpler to piece than the 6 or 8 layers. And depending on the material still has lots of pizazz.

Good luck with whatever anyone chooses, but I think for a beginner the 4 patch is much easier and save the more difficult ones for later.

But again that's up to the individual.
