Great tips. I sometimes use "used dryer sheets" to sew on back of fabric and flip right side out.
Of course then adjust edges and press. Generally the shape needed is smaller than a dryer sheet.
(I get my daughter to save her dryer sheets since I really don't use them.)

Welcome from Madison, AL. I am so happy to see so many from our area.
It has been years since I did any quilting and then I did applique by needle turn. Now I am anxious to try out new ways so I am going to save this thread to refer back to. Lots of great advice from some talented quilters!

Welcome from Denver. The easiest applique O have ever done is the eleanor Burns way. Sew applq to iron on fuse, turn inside out, press and wa lah! Then you can appliq as you choose!

Hey! I used to buy my cross stitch stuff there in highschool. When I was there in 2009 when my dad died, I went looking for it since it wasn't in the same spot. I found it not too far from my old house! It was fun to shop there again, this time for a new passion. And I found official Auburn University fabric for my niece's quilt! You can't find that out here.

For applique I like to do the fusible interfacing way - fusible and right side of fabric together, sew, turn iron down, topstitch :) Easy Peasy. I saw it on one of the quilting shows on tv and haven't done applique any other way since - unless it is for a wall hanging - sometimes I do the heat n bond way for those.
