Yes she will. She has no idea she is getting this, so it will be a complete surprise. I will have to post pics once I'm done.Today I feel more confident that it can be done, thanks to all the encouraging words from you wonderful members!

You absolutely CAN do this!!! A nice meander (does not reall matter if you cross over stitched lines....or a wavy line instead of straight (covers a multitude of sins)...One that I learned in a FMQ class was called "pebbles and stones" 3 different sizes of imperfect cicles, and it looks like you are looking down on a stone or pebble walk.....with about 2 hours of practice, you can do those very well.........one block with pebbles and stones and the next with wavy lines..............try it........

I sometimes just use a zigzag stitch on my sewing machine and go around the squares and also just make lines with this stitch. It turns out ok.

A loop-de-loop works well too! That's just a loop every couple of inches in your meander. Looks more interesting than just the meander!

Like this. I put the ruler down to show that's where you draw the line, then you just sew a wavy line around the line. I drew lines 3" apart on this and did it in both directions. What's nice about this is that you don't have to be perfect and because you're not dropping the feed dogs, you don't have to worry about your stitches on the backside. You do need to use a walking foot, though.

Thanks for this idea. Its going to work on my next project. :lol:
