I once knew a lady that made a fabric holder that she was
able to hang on the wall and it had a section for each of
her measureing tools. Worked well. Use up some fabric
that was of no quilting use.

Same here. I did pry open the hanger a bit more so it wasn't as clumsy to remove a ruler, but still, I'm looking for a better idea. I like the idea of storing the rulers without having to use any precious horizontal space. I hang the hanger of rulers on the side of a storage cabinet or move it whenever I need to.

Look at yard sales and resale shops for desk accessories that hold letters, or even old LP album (remember those? :) ) holders.

I did this and ended up with 50 holes in the wall. I am not allowed to use nails. I have some hanging with the removable hangers. But they are very expensive.

I bought a pack of three folding "hinges" at Ikea. There is a lip on the part which pulls down. DH fixed them to the wall horizontally in such a way that they keep all my rulers at hand. Unfortunately, I threw away the card they came with so I can't give the name but check out their household organizing section. They have lots of neat storage ideas which could be adapted to the sewing room and not too expensive either.

There is an item on the market that's like a coat hanger but has a large round wire like attached to the bottom. They cost around $5.00. I have two of them and love them. I plan to buy a couple more.
