Hand Made...by Machine?
#61
I can't add too much information here, but was reading the different categories for our local fair. If you submit a quilt, it must be clearly stated as to how it was created: machine pieced and quilted; hand pieced and machine quilted; hand pieced and hand quilted, etc. Apparently, they are extremely fussy. Probably won't be entering anything in the fair to be judged.

Consider that few (except other quilters) will appreciate the value of scraps, quilt store quality, or that wonderful thread. I'd be inclined to use
- quilt name,
- designed, pieced, and quilted by michael holmes
- size
- 100% cotton fabric, batting and thread
- date

That's enough.
Those that know will know. Those that don't still won't, but at least they'll know it didn't come from the Pottery Barn. ;-)
I don't think you need to specify the method.
I'll second that!

try to make your label read in a way that people want to bid more money.

My suggestion...

That is the basic information that the owner would need to provide to an appraiser so why not make it easy for them. ;)

MQC didn't design the quilt, they show the method of creating the tube and cutting. I love the company and am always checking their sight for new tutorials. But they show us shortcuts, construction help and ideas of things we can do with what we create using their tutorials. They give us ideas of how to make things easier for us to use the products they sell, and to encourage us to buy. Great for marketing. Just my humble opinion
I also don't think I would mention that this was made from scraps or leftovers (tends to have a negative connotation). Unless someone is a quilter I think it would devalue the quality of the quilt for auction bidders. Only another quilter would appreciate this information. Again, JMHO.
