My Pfaff 130 from the 1950's is named Leslie. Leslie came to me indirectly from a farmer in ND named Leslie. He bought it at an auction because his wife wouldn't let him sew on her machine. He used it exclusively to make denim quilts for his grandchildren and charity.

My old Viking is named Lena. The Featherweight doesn't have a name yet.

Never really called it a name, other than saying it's a workhorse! Old Kenmore that is 40+ yrs old.

Just got three machines last weekend. It was a great weekend! The Kenmore 185 is precious! Her name is Jenny. She has a wonderful sweet spirit and is so ready to serve!
The Kenmore 71 is named Betsy after her original owner. She needs some work. We're not really on speaking terms yet. I think it'll take some time for me to warm up to her.
Then my Singer 99-13 is named Bobby after the fellow I bought her from. She needs some work too, but I'm already feeling a friendship growing!
Then there's the Dressmaker my hubby gave me for my HS graduation when we were dating back in the 60's. Hadn't really given her a name, but Faith would be quite appropriate. She's always been there for me. And was so patient waiting for me to learn how to give her proper care.
Oh Yeah, the HuskyLock serger, she's not getting a name. Hoping she'll find a new home and move out!
OMG, I forgot the White 950 that has been a good and trusted friend, but will now be taking a rest while Jenny takes over. I think Ami would be a great name for her!

I asked my husband to help me name my 301a and he said, "That's easy, "Beyonce", she's a beautiful mocha and she's a Singer.

I actually have four singer's to name....I do have a rather decidedly unfeminine, rugged and bulky Kenmore whose name is "Kenny"~not real original, I know.

I just call all of mine "awesome" when they are doing what they are told. Pretty sure I'd be censored by the admins if I told you what I call them when they are acting up!!!!

Interesting the predominance of feminine names. I have all Swedish made Viking machines. My first was Rose - that was the model name and she was great to get me back into sewing again. She was traded for the model with more features - somehow, from the first moment, he became Olof and it still fits. I think there has always been a small pleasure that he always does just what I want him to do, lol. My machine that travels on get-aways and is a trusty mechanical model is now Mathilda, its previous name needed to be changed. And then my very creative embellisher/needle felting machine is Inga. My oldest machine, a 1930's Singer was a hand me done from my sister and has been retired , although she made many children's clothes, etc, with never a complaint.

Yes, it is a friend that sits with me as I sew, so to me a name is quite natural.
