My DH, at one time & only one time, ask me why I needed more than one sewing machine. I ask him why he needed more than one chainsaw & four sets of all his other tools. He never questioned me again about my machines or fabric. Now he asks me if I want to stop at the fabric shop whenever we go to town. He also now asks me to make baby quilts for his co-workers.

I'm so happy for you quilters. My DH doesn't have a hobby that I can compare to my spending money on my hobbies. I've learned to threaten him with making him go on day trips I know he doesn't want to do OR I do my hobbies. It seemed to have worked.

Last week while sorting through my sewing room, I made a comment about one of the items to my DH as he sat at the computer passing time. He said, "Just look at how much money you have invested in that room. How much do you think? I said, "Well over $7000. not including fabric." --- (I know the amount because I made an Excel spreadsheet while cleaning the room)--- He then said, "Just look at the extra money you could have now?" My comment to this candy loving guy, "Just think about how much money in a weeks time you have purchased candy and you have NOTHING to show for it but a big tummy. I can spend that much on a quilt pattern and still have it." His comment: "It's still a bunch of useless stuff". ONLY TO HIM. He's still too stubborn 'to get it'. There will be another time that I will remind him of all the woodworking tools he has and not putting to use.

I went through this when my hubby wanted a Quad. He bought two quads and I got my new sewing machine. I still think to this day I got the better end of the deal, because I can use my sewing machine and stay warm and dry all year long.

You are smart!!! At least he understands now. My BF doesn't have issues with me buying fabric. What ever I spend, he gets to spend to(as long as we have the money for it).

OH OH, I have a problem. My hobbies are quilting and fishing. Yes I have a boat and 3 sewing machines, and I have paid for them all. I'm close to retiring and have what I need. except for new material and new fishing lures.
