See, I knew it wouldn't be ugly. I think it looks great, bind it up and you are done! If your aren't crazy about it, gift it to someone as a gift. You are being to hard on yourself.

    The star is awesome!

The beautiful floral border that you added is too pretty and takes away from the simplicity of the star.

If you take off the floral border and add a blended smaller print for the border like you have in the star pieces I think it would be stunning. Then you can reuse that beautiful floral print in blocks on another project.

Do you have enough of any of the fabrics within the star pieces to make a border? Or you could add a white border and corner stars if you have enough of the prints within the Carpenters star?

I agree, it is beautiful. I like the fabric in the last border but not with that quilt. I would go with a dark, solid border to grab one of the colors in the quilt. It will be fantastic.

The top itself is gorgeous! Like everyone else, I think it's the border that doesn't work. How about continuing scrappy and do piano keys for the outside border? When this has been quilted, it is going to be a real winner! Beautiful.

Agree with everyone here. My first thought when I saw the picture was "what a gorgeous quilt, she must be bonkers!" When I scrolled down and saw the border, though, it definitely detracts from the rest of the quilt top. A different border would really make that star "shine!"

Thanks for all your encouragement. I really didn't like the star before the borders, but REALLY don't like the last border. I'm going to take it off and then try something else. I don't have any extra fabric from the star, but will look for something to tone it down a little bit. By the way, it is photographed on my king-size bed, so it is BIG. Maybe that's what I don't like..... Who knows!

Well...here is another voice in agreement with the others...the star is gorgeous and will be even better when its quilted...you just need to replace the floral border. That fabric will look fabulous on another quilt!

I would change the border. Maybe black & some bright color. THe base is pretty but the border ruins it. You do nice work.

    My color thoughts exactly.

I agree with changing the border. The star is gorgeous! Your LQS may have knowlegdable people who could help you pick out just the right border to pop those colors. You are being way too hard on yourself!
