I think I would make a giant pillow or quilt for the local animal rescue/shelter. Fabric that you don't want or like can be made into something useful.

Use the Bonnie Hunter method and cut it in into little squares and sew the squares into blocks. No one will know what it really was to begin with!! LOL

The only thing I can think of is those fussy cut triangles sewn together into a hex. Isn't that a kalidescope (sp)?

Looks like it might have been designed as a shoulder patch to be sewn in when setting the sleeve in on a shirt or jacket.
