I worked in a dressmaking shop in Lexington, KY while a grad student at UK. One of the 3 machines there was a Viking. I loved it. Have always wanted to own one, but I have 4 sewing machines and a serger. That's enough. And they are also VERY expensive.

You got a great gift!

Vikings USED to be good, but the threading on this and the designers leaves a lot to be desired....

I have had Vikings since 1981 and have had no trouble at all with the threading of them. I love my Vikings.

I had a viking I Bought new about 35 years ago. I gave it to my son, It still worked great, and I did a lot of sewing with it. never had any problems with it.

bought mine in about 1974, went to shop once, still going strong. Love that second lower gear for thick fabrics
