OMG - I'm totally dumbfounded! Is this someone you've dealt with before? Does she really think she knows you well enough to do something like that without consulting you first? I don't even know my family well enough to do that!

I would bet you she was in a rush, didn't notice the second sheet, couldn't be bothered to check with you, and just cut down the quilt and quilted it up so she could put it in the 'out' box. A border is so important to the quilt design, never mind fitting the bed. She had oughtta have thought and called instead of whack and snip.
I'm so sorry about your quilt.

OMG, that is a good way to lose a customer. I have had plenty of customers send backings that are too small and never once have I done anything without consulting them. Hopefully it was just a misunderstanding. If not, I would not use them again.

Yes, that particular quilter didn't center the backing which had a panel on it surounded by coordinating fabric. She had to come back to me to get more fabric, and I had worked so hard to get it center initially. I was upset about it. Fortunately it was for my DGD so wouldn't notice, but I did!!!!!

I've never heard of such a thing. Above all, a reputable quilter should contact the client before doing anything so drastic without your approval. I know some quilters do not like using sheets as backing fabric but that's personal preference. I would speak with her to see if she is willing to correct her alterations done without your approval. One unsatisfied customer can undue the good word of many satisfied customers.

I think I would have a serious issue with that...
Same here: no phonecall to discuss, no money from me. The quilt has been totally altered and is unusable for the purposes it was intended. I can guarantee you, your LA'er wouldn't have tolerated what she pulled on you...
