When I did denim rag quilts, I used strips of rectangles, and made sure the seam from the next strip would be in the middle of the rectangle beside it. Does that make sense? Then you don't have to match seams.

Avoid joining corners with denim. Choose a pattern that 'staggers'.

You are right there, mine had corners and on those seams you had to open them up

There is also a heavyweight denim needle that makes it easier. Most machines are not built to handle layers of heavier fabric. I have to manually push the needle into heavier layers sometimes. I always thought it would be handy to find an inexpensive used professional heavyweight machine for the few times I would need it, kind of like what would be used for making tents and reupholstering. Every so often I need to repair or make something that does not fit into the typical category of home sewing.

I have promised to make a denim rag quilt for the little gal who does my hair. Thought I would use a blue and yellow floral with the denim. She has overloaded me with old jeans. Hope it is not too hard.

It is hard to work with, but the end result (good sized 45 X 65) for qulits to be sent for ambulance duty overseas, was well worth the
pricked fingers and the almost losing my temper witht he fraying, I may just do another one. If I ever learn how to send pictures, I might send one.

You that size wouldn't be bad, but I did a queen and it was so heavy.
You know I am with you there I still can't seam to get the hang of sending pictures. If you find out let me know how you did it.
