Quilters gotta do what we gotta do to make a space that is 'ours' for our quilting.
Glad you took the space and made it yours. Why put off tomorrow what we can do today !

I think you did a wonderful job painting and organizing everything. If I had a basement, that is exactly where I would want my quilting room. Looks wonderful...thanks for posting all the pics. I'm sure you will inspire a lot of others to do the same thing.

Your space is fantastic! I'm very much in the same situation. Like you, "we're going to get the basement finished"! Only part has been done. I love my space & so much of it! Although it does help that oldest son has moved out & took his drum kit with him!

Wow after looking at the table that your husband made, I feel spoiled. My kind husband bought me a Lil Gracie quilting table 3 years ago for x-mas and all I use it for is to house my machine and cutting table. I always stitch in the ditch each block as I go. I don't seem to be able to master even the meandering stitch. I tried several times and get so frustrated that it isn't "fun" anymore. I love that he did this for me, but can't seem to master it. After seeing your table I have to give it another shot. Thanks for the inspiration. Any tips you could send my way would be appreciated! Thank you for sharing Happy Quilting

My sewing "area" is also in my unfinished basement. I have spread out (it keeps growing), added a sitting area with a TV, sofa and chair. My husband made a huge planning wall for me and has customized it to my liking. I hope I never have to sew anywhere else! I love it and it's all mine!!!!!!

You know BluegrassGurl, what you've done is all the more inspiring because of your creative use of budget! I love it when people turn something blah into something wonderful without spending shocking amounts of the green stuff. You've created such a happy and inviting space! Congratulations!

What a great idea. I now have a finished basement to sew in but for years it wasn't and I never thought to do what you did. Such a nice sewing area you have now!
