The border is what 'pops' in this quilt. If it's going to be on a bed where you wont see most of it anyway, I can understand leaving it. I'd rather have the piecing in the middle be what pops. It IS a gorgeous quilt though! If that border wasn't there, the middle of the stars in the lattice is what would pop! I keep looking at it. Parts of it look like a quilt I pieced a few years ago. So, I know I could make something similar. It would probably take me longer though. I've got a few quilts in the frying pan at this point in time. I'm going to look and see if the pattern is anywhere in this thread. Have a wonderful day! I'm sure your DD will love the quilt as it is, because you made it for her.

Well I'm going against the majority, but I like it. It picks up the color in the stars and makes a great statement. It makes a frame for your beautiful work, to me it looks like a piece of art. I believe a lighter color would detract from the stars because it would stand out so much by being so different. Hey what do I know?

I'm like tn Becky, I really like the border, it's like a frame for the beautiful blocks & does draw the eye to the middle of the top. & yes I would not look at it for a few days, sometimes makes a huge difference! Is that a PP block? Love it!

I really like your quilt. I'd leave it as is unless recipient wanted a different border, I would not change it!

You are right. I tried a number of colors, shades, values, etc. They all looked like they had just crawled there and died.

Let me say once again that I thank you all for your input and the compliments.

FYI, the pictures, especially the first one, do not do justice to the block fabric colors, values, and contrasts, whatsoever.

Recipient expected today to give me her opinion.

I think yes. It automatically draws your eyes away from the stars to the border. I think I would tone that down. But, the quilt is very pretty.

Love your stars. If it were my quilt I would add another border of your washing fabric or in a similar Color as your sashing. At this stage of your quilt you can adjust width of border already on so it does not overpower your wonderful stars. And, best of all, you won't need your seam ripper. Just a suggestion. Daughter is who you must please.
